I see this all the time when I’m building websites.
People love the design.
They love the overall style.
They’re excited.
We get to about 99% done…
And then suddenly:
“Can we adjust the font size on just this one page?”
“I think I want to wait until offer 7 of 8 is ready.”
“Maybe we should hold off until my lead magnet is finished.”
“What if we tweak this section one more time?”
There’s always one more thing.
And here’s the truth most people don’t want to hear:
👉 Your website is never done anyway.
It’s a working document.
Your business will evolve.
Your offers will change.
Your messaging will sharpen.
You are not a static human being…
So why do we expect our websites to be static forever?
(Yikes. When you say it out loud, it sounds wild.)
This is what I call death by a thousand tweaks.
It’s the one surefire way to:
never launch
abandon platforms mid-build
constantly feel “almost ready”
and quietly stall alllllllllll your own momentum
Not because the design won’t work.
But because somewhere underneath all the tweaking, there’s usually something else going on.
Sometimes it’s lack of clarity:
not fully owning what you’re selling yet
wanting everything perfect before choosing one offer
(PSA: launch with one offer. Please. You can add the others once your foundation is in place.)
And sometimes (let’s be honest) it’s protection.
Tweaking keeps you safe.
If it’s not live yet:
no one can judge it
no one can say no
no one can not buy
Holding onto “almost done” feels easier than putting something out into the world and seeing what happens next.
I’ve had some awkward conversations with clients over the years where I’ve gently said:
“You really don’t need to tweak that.”
Early-in-my-career Brittany found those conversations terrifying. And I would just execute these tweaks forever and enable my clients to never launch, because otherwise...
My brain would spiral into:
“What if they think my work isn’t good enough?”
“What if they don’t like me?”
“What if they tell everyone I suck?”
(Shoutout to ADHD RSD for that one 😅)
But not today friends... my goal is launches, not extended stays in tweak-o-land.
And when I say you don’t need that tweak, it’s not because I’m lazy.
And it’s not because I don’t care.
It’s because I’ve been doing this long enough to know that that tiny visual change will not move the needle in your business at all.
Tweaking feels like momentum.
But it’s not.
Because nothing is out in the world yet.
You’re not gathering feedback.
You’re not making sales.
You’re not learning what actually works.
You’re just… holding onto it... waiting for perfect.
(Spoiler: it never comes.)
So if you’re stuck in tweak-mode right now, I want you to remember this:
👉 Always choose intentional momentum over pretend momentum.
Launch the thing.
Share the page.
Let it be imperfect and real.
You can refine after it’s live. It won't break you!
That’s how businesses actually grow.
