Empty Desk Solutions

What is your story?

Empty Desk Solutions came to life in April 2014 after searching for companies to help brokers market themselves on social media. I was being approached in my marketing role at the time by brokers looking for a service that did not exist – so I created it! The little gig that started as a job on the side turned in to a full-scale small business marketing company a few short months later. Now in year 5, we serve over 150 clients across Canada with their social media marketing.

My bio:

Brittany Hardy is the Owner of Empty Desk Solutions, a boutique marketing company located in Port Moody B.C.

Brittany is passionate about helping small businesses achieve their growth goals with marketing solutions that are both effective and affordable.

After many years of working in retail management and then as the Marketing Manager for Canada’s
largest mortgage company, Brittany decided it was time to pursue a life-long goal of creating her own business. Naturally she likes to help others and decided there was no better way to do this than to use her creative talent to help OTHERS who want to do the same thing.

With three young children, Brittany believes in balancing work and home life and continues to
find new ways to support and employ other mothers who want to start their own businesses or stay at home with their children.

Social media marketing continues to evolve for small businesses and Brittany and her team are passionate about helping these businesses navigate how they can benefit from these networks.

Brittany has been a finalist for the Women of Worth awards, the Tri-Cities Business Excellence
awards, and has most recently been featured in Small Business BC and in the Huffington Post.

Tell us about your most recent success.

My most recent success relates to our new brand! At the very end of 2017, we scrapped our original logo, colours, messaging and all things that represented our ‘old look’ and gave EDS a fresh new ‘feminine’ appearance. It has worked wonders in attracting the softer personality types that we enjoy working with.

What motivates you to come into work every day?

This is a funny one to answer, because we don’t really ever have to ‘go in to work’, and that in itself is our motivation! When I set out to create Empty Desk Solutions, I knew I wanted to create a company where I could work from home to spend time with my family and give others the same opportunity. Mission accomplished! 

What do you love best about your job?

I love the feeling I can give to other small business owners when they are relieved of doing all of the marketing themselves. Most of our clients come to us overwhelmed, and very stressed out about marketing – we take this away!

How do you rely on others to make you better?

I rely on our clients to keep us in the know about what’s working and what’s not so that we can consistently improve our programs. Marketing is always a moving target – so we rely heavily on the feedback of our current and past clients.
