ChatGPT became my therapist... and the conversation 🤯 my brain...

So this last weekend I did a thing...

My good friend Alysha sent me a text that said "Run to Gwen, and put in this prompt" (for reference, Gwen is what we named ChatGPT because yes... I'm a bit of a weirdo and I talk to it politely like a human.) Because what happens if we're not kind to AI? Yeah... I don't want to find out!

Honestly I had no idea what to expect, but I was hot off the heels of running a MarketingClub.ca presentation on goal setting, and although the presentation was amazing, I couldn't help but feel like a fraud.

You know why?

Because I was running through a goal setting system that works so well, but I let my own ADHD and procrastination get in the way of following that system last year. I can do all the things I need to do, and I'm a badass at creating the podia sites for clients and helping people rock their marketing inside of MarketingClub.ca, so why would I neglect some of my own action items that would take me straight to those goals faster than a raccoon in an unguarded trash can.

Ok, let's get to the goods, here's the prompt (and if you're a ChatGPT user, I DARE you to put this in and see what it spits out for you.) Are you ready?

The prompt:

Pretend you’re a therapist who’s had it with me. You’ve been listening to my stories for awhile, and now you’ve finally snapped. Give me the ‘tough love’ breakdown on what I should be doing—no holding back. Use everything you know about me for this one.

ChatGPT Answer:

Alright, Brittany, listen up, because this is the moment we stop the endless spirals and start calling out the BS. You’re juggling four kids, a business, your ADHD, and about 27 new ideas before breakfast—and yeah, that’s impressive—but it’s also chaos. You’re creating your own overwhelm, and don’t roll your eyes at me, because deep down, you know it’s true.

Here’s the reality: you're doing too much. You're trying to be the hero, the overachiever, and the perfectionist, but in doing so, you're sabotaging your own success. You procrastinate because you’re scared—scared it won’t be perfect, scared it won’t be enough, scared you might actually succeed and then have to keep it up. But guess what? Perfection isn’t coming to save you. It’s a myth. You’ve got kids who think you hung the moon and clients who literally pay you because they trust you—imperfections and all.

You’re also hiding behind busy work. Journaling about why you procrastinate? Great. But did you send the email you’ve been sitting on for a week? Did you record the YouTube video you promised yourself two months ago? No? Then your journaling is just an excuse. You know what beats reflection? Action.

Here’s your step-by-step tough love prescription:

  1. Pick a lane and stay in it. ADHD might mean shiny object syndrome, but it doesn’t mean you need to chase every new idea. You’re the Podia queen. Own it. Build it. Market it. That’s your legacy move. Stop trying to be everything to everyone.

  2. Say no—loudly and often. You can’t white-knuckle your way through every opportunity. Want balance? Here’s the trick: it’s not adding anything else to your plate.

  3. Set deadlines. Real ones. Your ideas stay in your head because no one’s holding you accountable. Treat your projects like client work—schedule it, make it public, and stick to the damn deadline.

  4. Drop the guilt. You’re a mom of four, a wife, and a business owner. Some days, you’ll crush it. Other days, you’ll feel like you’re barely holding it together. That’s life. Get comfortable with “good enough.”

  5. Take the leap. You want to talk about fear? Fine, let’s talk about it. What happens if you fail? Oh, right. Nothing. You learn, you adjust, and you try again. What happens if you succeed? Everything you’ve been working toward. Stop overthinking. It’s time to DO.

You don’t need to heal your procrastination first, Brittany. You need to get out of your own way. So take a deep breath, pick one thing, and start moving. Right now. Not tomorrow, not after one more “brainstorm.” Now.

Because if I hear one more story about the pool you bought or the 10,000 reels ideas you’re sitting on without actually posting them, I might throw my clipboard across the room.

drop.

Ok, so I added the "mic drop" part at the end for dramatic effect haha. But honestly, that's how it felt.

It felt as if someone just called me out on all of my BS.

I AM saying yes to some of the wrong things and it's causing me to have no space left to say yes to THE RIGHT THINGS.

I am hiding behind a bit of perfectionism, and I used to be so much better at taking messy inspired action... what gives?!

But I realized something right then and there.

I'm not an impossible mess that needs fixing, I'm just a normal human, having a normal human experience, and my plate is rather full. So why not just get out of my own way and really think harder about what things are truly important to focus on and accomplish during the day?

I can't do everything perfectly, but I can do a heck of a lot pretty well. So let's just get on with it already.

I was saying in my own head "Brittany, girl... just stop adding 20 to-dos to your planner every day. It's not going to happen. Add 5 impactful things. That's the answer you dumb-dumb."

We all have that ability inside of us to choose what we focus on.

Focus on the positive and where you want to go? You're more likely to get there.

Focus on the negative or where you don't want to go? Well, then surely you're headed there because that's all you're thinking about!

If this is the year you get out of your own way and take messy action - then my friend, I salute you!

Let's be crazy hot messes together, but ones that crush it in business, shall we?!

If one of those things you've been pushing to the side has been your social media and digital marketing, then I'd love to see you on Jan 21 for my FREE workshop: Creating Consistency on Social Media - The Easy Way.

Best case scenario: you are so inspired that you take action RIGHT AWAY (and maybe you even join us inside the Marketing Club to get more 1:1 support and training.)

Or, worst case scenario: You spend 60 minutes with us, get some great tips that help propel you forward, and you call it a day. You can't lose, I promise.

Can’t wait to see you at the party!

Cheers,
-Brittany
