A gorgeous website with no traffic is just a really nice screensaver.

So I recently pulled up a site I built for a client, to show a potential client what my work looks like...
...and it did not look like it did when we launched it.

Mismatched fonts, broken sections, buttons that led nowhere. I actually said out loud, "okay, it did NOT look like this when we launched it."
It looked like the goblin twin of the beautiful site we shipped, beamed in from another galaxy. 😬
Here's the thing though. I don't think that client was lazy or careless. They aren't, my clients are genuinely amazing people.
I think what happened is way more common than that: They (we) launched a beautiful site, and then they (the client) spent the next several months changing random things, over and over, trying to figure out how to sell something... before they'd sold a single thing.
New headline. New button colour. Rearranged sections. Again. And again.
And listen, I get it. When nothing's selling, it feels like the website must be the problem. But if you've never sent traffic to it, tweaking the page for the hundredth time isn't the fix... getting more eyes on it is.
You need to DO things off your website (workshops, emails, showing up) to have people TO send TO your website in the first place.
A gorgeous website with no traffic is just a really nice screensaver.
This is exactly the kind of thing I'm digging into on the 13th... what's actually worth fixing on your site, versus what's just anxious rearranging while the real problem (nobody's seeing it) goes untouched.
