Adding an Editor or Admin to your Facebook Business Page

Posted by:

From time to time, you may need to give someone access to your Facebook page to post or create ads on your behalf. It is a good practice to check in on who has access to your page every so often or as people join or leave your team so you can maintain the security of your business page.

Here are the instructions on adding someone to your page:

There’s no limit to the number of people who can have a role on a Page. Learn more about what each Page role can do.
Give Someone a Role
If you’re an admin:
  1. Click Settings at the top of your Page.
  2. Click Page Roles in the left column.
  3. Type a name or email in the box:
    • If the person is your Facebook friend, begin typing their name and select them from the list that appears.
    • If the person isn’t your Facebook friend, type the email address associated with their Facebook account.
  4. Click Editor to select a role from the dropdown menu.
  5. Click Add and enter your password to confirm.
Keep in mind that if you’re not friends with the person you’re adding, they’ll have to accept your invite before they can start helping you manage your Page.
Remove Someone Who Has a Role
If you’re an admin:
  1. Click Settings at the top of your Page.
  2. Click Page Roles in the left column.
  3. Click Edit next to the person you want to remove, and then click Remove.
  4. Click Confirm. You may need to enter your password.
You can always remove yourself from a Page, but if you’re the Page’s only admin, you’ll need to add another admin first.
Change Someone’s Role
If you’re an admin:
  1. Click Settings at the top of your Page.
  2. Click Page Roles in the left column.
  3. Click Edit next to the name of the person whose role you want to change and then select a new role from the dropdown menu.
  4. Click Save. You may need to enter your password to confirm.
Note: If you’re a new admin, keep in mind that you may need to wait 7 days before you can remove or demote another admin.
Helpful Tip: if you aren’t friends with someone on Facebook, you can still add them to your page roles but you must use the email address in the invite field that they use to access Facebook – this might not be the email address you have to contact them by so make sure to ask them which one to use.
